Setup FloatBeats

Follow these steps to get FloatBeats running perfectly on your device

📥 Step 1: Install the App

Download the APK

Download FloatBeats from our website using the button below or from the home page.

Allow Installation from Unknown Sources

When prompted, tap Settings → enable Allow from this source for your browser or file manager.

Install the App

Tap Install and wait for the installation to complete. Then tap Open.

🔐 Step 2: Grant Permissions

FloatBeats needs two special permissions to work properly:

Overlay Permission (Display Over Other Apps)

This allows lyrics to float on top of your music app. In FloatBeats, tap Grant next to "Overlay Permission", then enable the toggle for FloatBeats.

Notification Access

This lets FloatBeats detect what song is playing. Tap Grant, find FloatBeats in the list, and enable it. You may need to confirm with "Allow".

⚠️ Can't Enable Permissions? (Android 13+)

On Android 13 and newer, apps installed via APK (outside Play Store) have "Restricted Settings" enabled by default. This is a security feature that prevents granting sensitive permissions. Here's how to fix it:

Open Your Phone's Settings

Go to Settings → Apps (or "Apps & notifications")

Find FloatBeats

Scroll down or search for FloatBeats in the app list and tap on it

Tap the Three Dots Menu (⋮)

Look in the top-right corner and tap the three vertical dots

Tap "Allow Restricted Settings"

This option appears for sideloaded apps. Tap it to unlock permissions

Verify with PIN/Fingerprint

Android will ask you to confirm with your screen lock for security

Return to FloatBeats

Go back to FloatBeats and grant the permissions normally – they should work now! 🎉

💡 Why does this happen?

This is an Android security feature, not a problem with FloatBeats. Apps downloaded from outside the Play Store are treated with extra caution. Once FloatBeats is available on the Play Store, this step won't be needed!

🎵 Step 3: Start Using FloatBeats

Play Music

Open Spotify, YouTube Music, or any music app and play a song.

Tap "Start Overlay"

In FloatBeats, you'll see the song detected. Tap Start Overlay to show floating lyrics!

Enjoy Floating Lyrics!

Lyrics will appear on screen, synced with your music. Drag to reposition, tap for Karaoke Mode!
